How it started:

The idea for Trafficjam was born out of the conversations between Chris Boyer and Nathan Groves, whilst trying to come up with an idea on how to best spread the road safety message. Nathan is part of the Game Development community in Darwin, and suggested a Game Jam, as a blend of the needs to teach young Australians about computer science and traffic safety. Not long after this conversation, Trafficwerx met with Dylan Bennett of Larrikin Interactive to hire his services, knowing of his experience running the first two game jams in the NT, and his skill and experience in stakeholder management. TrafficJAM was born in concept and Nathan and Dylan worked together in getting the concept off the ground…  Quite a different concept from the original idea of snags on the barbie at Trafficwerx HQ.

We took the idea to TRACE Technologies and their enthusiasm to back this initiative was amazing, they put forward substantial funds to make the event possible, and are so excited to see two worlds that are so important to them, be encouraged in young Australians.

Through putting our feelers out for the event, we made contact with Peter Frazer OAM, of course, he needs no introduction to those who work on the roads, but if you haven’t heard of him, please take the time to learn about his organization SARAH, and National Road Safety Week

Our sponsors, the reason it is all possible:

We can’t emphasise enough how important the following sponsors are. They are mentioned in shorter form in our itch page, but their willingness to invest in an unproven new concept, and assist us in spreading the road safety message to those who are most at risk is commendable, we wanted to make a place where they could talk about their business in more detail, all of the images below are also clickable links to their websites. Please take the time to read about them below:

The answer is that insurance is complicated and the direct insurance that you see advertised is designed to fit the lowest common denominator. In other words, what they are doing is creating very basic insurance packages that cater for a 'typical' customer. The problem, of course, is that there is no such thing as a 'typical' customer, everyone has varying needs. We'll help find you a customised solution that works for you, and covers you for what you need.
